International Akhanov Readings – XXV

Since 1998, International AKHANOV READINGS are traditionally held on the basis of the Department of General Linguistics and European Languages of the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The format of the conferences held is different. Thus, on May 12-13, 2006, within the framework of the IX International Akhanov Readings, the International Conference “Language and Identity” was held under the auspices of the International Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (IATRLL, Russia). In the past few years, the conference has been held with the joint participation of RUDN Institute of Foreign Languages (Moscow, Russian Federation), Al-Farabi Eurasian Research Center of Istanbul University (Istanbul, Turkey), Aitmatov Academy (London, Great Britain), Taraz International Innovation Institute (Taraz, Kazakhstan). The geography of the conference participants is represented by scientists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the USA, China, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Israel, Iran, Portugal, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, etc. The conferences are held according to different main landmarks: “Language and Identity” (2006), “Language and Tolerance” (2007), “Polylinguism: Language — Consciousness — Culture” (2008), “Language and Mentality” (2009), “Language and Usage” (2011), “Language and Innovations” (2012), “Language and Globalization” (2013), “Modernization of Language: Challenges of the Time” (2015), “Language as a Soft Power” (2016), “Language, Intercultural Communication and National Identity: A Look into the Future” (2018), “Sustainable Development: Language, Intercultural Communication and Digital Technologies” (2021), etc. The international format of conferences allows discussing the topical issues of contemporary linguistics, the formation of mentality, identity, the interaction of language and consciousness, issues of the participation of language and culture in mental processes, the implementation of a dialogue of languages and cultures, etc. The XXIV conference, held in 2021, made it possible to identify the problems and prospects of the study of languages, their teaching in new modern conditions with the expansion of the information space, the use of online learning and modern digital technologies.
