Scientific seminar “From biomass to energy. Valorization of wastewater treatment. SDG 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’”
On 7 October at 12:00 p.m. (Moscow time)
Scientific seminar “From biomass to energy. Valorization of wastewater treatment. SDG 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’” within the framework of the multilingual development program in English for teaching staff, it is carried out in order to facilitate the exchange of experience and knowledge between experts in this field, expand the network of contacts and partnerships in this field, practice English and engage in scientific work.
Speaker: Vinod Kumar, Professor of the Department of Life Sciences (Graphic Era University), Doctor.
The main provisions of the report:
SDG target 6.1 is formulated as follows: “By 2030, ensure universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all”.
To track progress towards the goal, indicator 6.1.1 tracks the proportion of the population with access to safe drinking water. The task of the seminar is to show how these indicators can be achieved by treatment wastewater with microalgae and valorizing microalgae biomass into biofuels.
SDG target 6.3 is formulated as follows: “By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating waste disposal and minimizing emissions of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and significantly increasing the recycling and safe reuse of wastewater worldwide”.
To track progress towards the goal, SDG indicator 6.3.1 tracks the proportion of total industrial and domestic wastewater flows that have been safely treated. It is on the safe biotechnological treatment of municipal wastewater that the emphasis will be placed in this event.
