About the event

Speaker: S.A. Denisov (University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA).

Topic: Emergence of singularities in the Euler equation for viscous incompressible fluids.

Global existence of a classical solution for the three-dimensional Euler equation is one of the central unsolved problems in hydrodinamics. In this talk, we consider the two-dimensional case and discuss different scenarios, in which the solution becomes singular as time tends to infinity. The obtained estimates underline the nonlinear character of the problem and are optimal.
