About the event

December 11, 2018 at 12.00 in the aud.495a, Ordzhonikidze st., 3 seminar “Optimal problems and nonlinear analysis” will take place.

Speaker: A.A. Nikitin, M.V. Nikolaev (Lomonosov Moscow State University).

Topic: On integral equations arising in the stationary communities’ model.

Our report addresses to the challenge problem that was posed by the German biologist Ulf Dickman in 2005. This problem, connected to solution of linear integral equation, was the subject of a lot of mathematical research. In the present work, the incorrectness of the problem formulated by the biologists and the incorrectness of the Power -2 asymmetric closure caused by it will be explained. Further, a modification of the linear problem will be proposed, leading to a nonlinear integral equation, whose solvability is proved using the Leray – Schauder’s principle.
