The beginning of the academic year at RUDN University. How we study in the first semester?

The academic year starts in a mixed format at RUDN University from 1 September 2021. International students who are unable to enter the Russian Federation due to the closed borders start studying in a distance format. All other full-time students will study on campus taking into account the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor.

Educational process organization

  • The 2021/2022 academic year for all full-time students starts on 1 September.
     
  • The start of the academic year for part-time or distance students will be organized in accordance with the curricula which can be found in the Dean’s Office/Directorate of the training department which implements the educational programme.
     
  • Practical and laboratory classes will be conducted for full-time students on campus (in RUDN University classrooms).
     
  • Lectures will be mostly conducted in a distance mode (as webinars) for full-time students.
     
  • Seminar classes in non-major disciplines and interdisciplinary courses will be conducted in a distance mode for full-time students.
     
  • Practical classes in major disciplines can be conducted in a distance mode for full-time students (provided they are agreed with the management of the training department).
     
  • Postgraduate programmes in terms of students’ mastering the theoretical part of the programme will be implemented solely using distance educational technologies. As for implementing research work (including doing laboratory research in RUDN University classrooms) and practical training for students on the territory of external organizations, it is permitted to work in the full-time mode with postgraduate students.
     
  • International students who do not have the possibility to leave for the Russian Federation will be trained in a distance mode (using the resources of the RUDN University Electronic Information Educational Environment).
     
  • PT classes are organized mostly outside taken weather conditions starting from 01.09.2021. In case of unfavourable weather conditions PT classes will be conducted either in a distance mode in accordance with the online schedule of the department or in Sports and Recreation Centre facilities following up the current recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor and RUDN University regulatory acts.
     
  • Group consultations in academic disciplines are organized in a distance mode. The schedule of the consultations will be placed on the pages of the disciplines in the TTIS until 12.09.2021.
     
  • While students are in full-time class in the RUDN University classrooms, the social distancing and measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 shall be observed (in accordance with the current recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor and the RUDN University regulations).
     
  • The schedule for lending out textbooks from the Educational and Scientific Information Library Centre will be posted on the resources of the RUDN University Electronic Information Educational Environment until 25.08.2021.
     
  • The courseware for all the disciplines implemented at university in the first term of the 2021/2022 academic year are posted in the TTIS.
     
  • The current schedule of classes will be posted on the university website in the Schedule section and in the mobile application.

Educational process organization in institutes / faculties / academy in the first term of the 2021/2022 academic year

  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start from 9.00 a.m. For full-time master’s students, they start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Classes for part-time students start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Foreign language and the Russian language (as a foreign language) classes will be conducted in a distance mode. 
  • Entry testing for the first-year students to determine the level of English proficiency and distribute them to study groups will be organized in a distance mode from 30 to 31 August 2021. The information can be specified at the Department of Foreign Languages and in the Directorate of the Institute.
  • Classes for full-time students start from 9.00 a.m. Classes for part-time students start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Laboratory classes are conducted on campus. It is permitted to conduct laboratory classes in IT disciplines in a distance mode provided they are agreed with the Directorate of the Academy. 
  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start:

- from 9.00 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; 
- from 10.30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 4.30 p.m.
  • Сlasses for part-time students start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start:

- from 10.30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
- from 9.00 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 6.00 p.m. 
  • Сlasses for part-time students start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Classes for bachelor’s and full-time students start from 9.00 a.m. 
  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 9.00 a.m.
  • Classes are conducted on a 3-shift basis. 
  • Classes start from 9.00 a.m.
  • All the classes for the first-year students in all the fields of study and specialties will be conducted in a distance mode from 01.09.2021 to 12.09.2021. 
  • Starting from 13.09.2021, for the first-year students, laboratory and practical classes in the following disciplines/practical training will be conducted on campus:

- Human Anatomy (General Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Biology);
- Biology (General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing);
- Chemistry, Physics (General Medicine); 
- Dental Modelling (Dentistry);
- Latin (Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy);
- General and Inorganic Chemistry, Physiology (Pharmacy);
- Fundamentals of Nursing, Introductory Practical Training (Nursing);
- Cell Biology, Zoology of Invertebrates; Mycology and Algology; Higher Plants (Biology). 

  • Laboratory and practical classes in the following disciplines for the second- and third-year students in Specialty 31.05.01 “General Medicine” (including “General Medicine-English medium”) will be conducted on campus from 01.09.2021: Anatomy; Histology, Embryology, Cytology; Normal Physiology; Biochemistry; Pharmaceutical Science; Pathological Anatomy, Clinical Pathological Anatomy; Microbiology, Virology; General Surgery; Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases; Hygiene. 
  •  From 01.09.2021, clinical practical classes for the 4th - 6th-year students in Specialty 31.05.01 “General Medicine” (including “General Medicine-English medium”) will be conducted in the full-time mode provided that there is access to clinical facilities (depending on the regime of prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus infection approved at the facility) and taking into account their work schedule.   •  From 01.09.2021, laboratory and practical training in phantom classes under the following disciplines is organized in a full-time mode for the second- and third-year students in Specialty 31.05.03 “Dentistry” (including “Dentistry in English”): Histology, Embryology, Cytology - Oral Histology; Biological Chemistry - Oral Biochemistry; Prevention and Communal Dentistry; Propaedeutics of Dental Diseases, Microbiology, Virology - Oral Microbiology; Normal Physiology, Physiology of Maxillofacial Area; Pharmaceutical Science; Pathological Anatomy, Pathological Anatomy of Head and Neck; Pathophysiology - Pathophysiology of Head and Neck; Cariology and Disease of Hard Dental Tissues; Endodontics; Local Anesthesia and Anesthesiology in Dentistry; Dental Prosthetics (Simple Prosthetics). 
  • From 01.09.2021, clinical practical classes for the 4th - 5th-year students in Specialty 31.05.03 “Dentistry” (including “Dentistry in English”) will be conducted in the full-time mode provided that there is access to clinical facilities (depending on the regime of prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus infection approved at the facility) and taking into account their work schedule.   • From 01.09.2021, laboratory and practical training under the following disciplines have been organized in a full-time mode for 2nd - 5th-year students in Specialty 33.05.01 “Pharmaceutical Science”: Analytical Chemistry; Organic Chemistry; Physical and Colloidal Chemistry; Botany; Microbiology, Hygiene; Biological Chemistry; Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Pharmaceutical Science; Pharmacognosy; Pharmaceutical Technology; Management and Pharmaceutical Economics; Toxicological Chemistry; Medical and Pharmaceutical Commodity Science; Clinical Pharmacology; Biotechnology; Environmental Toxicology. 
  • From 01.09.2021, laboratory and practical training under the following disciplines is organized in a full-time mode for the second-year students in Specialty 34.03.01 “Nursing”: Normal Physiology; Microbiology, Virology, Immunology; General Pathology; General Hygiene; Psychology. 
  • From 01.09.2021, clinical practical classes for the third- and fourth-year students in Specialty 34.03.01 “Nursing” will be conducted in the full-time mode provided that there is access to clinical facilities (depending on the regime of prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus infection approved at the facility) and taking into account their work schedule.   • International students who are unable to enter the Russian Federation will be trained in separate groups. 
  • According to the requirements of the clinical facilities, students who have a valid QR code or a certificate of medical contraindication certified by the RUDN University Clinical and Diagnostic Centre in accordance with the established procedure will be admitted to clinical practical classes. 
  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start from 10.30 a.m.
  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 3.00 p.m. 
  • Classes for part-time students start from 6.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start:

- from 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday;
- from 9.00 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 6.00 p.m. For part-time students, classes start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 9.00 a.m.
  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 9.00 a.m. For part-time master’s students, classes start from 7.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 a.m. on Saturday. 
  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start from 9.00 a.m.
  • Classes for full-time master’s students in:

- Tourism start from 6.00 p.m.
- Management start from 9.00 a.m.

  • Classes for part-time students start:

– from 6.00 p.m. Monday – Friday
– from 9.00 a.m. on Saturday

  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start:

- from 9.00 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- from 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; 

  • Classes for full-time master’s students start from 6.00 p.m. For part-time students, they start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start from 9.00 a.m.
  • Classes for full-time master’s students will be mostly conducted from 6.00 p.m. It is permitted to start classes earlier provided that there are available classrooms and the requirements on the prevention of the COVID-19 spread are observed. 
  • Classes for part-time students start from 6.00 p.m.
  • The 2021/2022 academic year in the Institute of the Russian Language (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) starts:

- for students of the Preparatory Faculty under three-term programmes from 01.09.2021;
- for students of the Preparatory Faculty who arrive to study in the 2021/2022 academic year – actual arrival date.

  • Classes for students of the Preparatory Faculty start from 09.00 a.m.
  • Training in the Preparatory Faculty is organized in a 2-shift mode on campus. 
  • Weekly group consultations are organized in a distance mode for students of the Preparatory Faculty.
  • International students who do not have an opportunity to start their studies on campus will be provided with the access to the training content of the Digital Preparatory Faculty in disciplines of the basic part of the curriculum. 
  • Classes for full-time bachelor’s students start from 9.00 a.m.
  • Classes for full-time master’s students start:

- from 6.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. 
- from 9.00 a.m. on Saturday.

  • Classes for bachelor’s students start from 9.00 a.m. For master’s students, classes start from 6.00 p.m.
  • Practicing teachers will conduct their classes with the possibility to connect online.

RUDN medical students take two bronze medals at the Anatomy Olympiad in Minsk

December 15, Minsk hosted the IX International Student Olympiad in Human Anatomy. It was attended by 9 teams from Russia and Belarus. Students of RUDN took two 3rd places in the theoretical and practical rounds.

Firsova readings “Modern languages and cultures: variability, functions, ideologies in the cognitive aspect” at RUDN University

The VI Firsova Readings conference “Modern languages and cultures: variability, functions, ideologies in the cognitive aspect”, held at the Faculty of Philology brought together speakers from Russia, England, Hungary, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, working in 9 thematic sessions. The conference featured a workshop, a round table and three seminars in Russian and English.

More than a world map: Geographical dictation 2023 to be held at RUDN University

RUDN University will again become the most international platform for the Geographical Dictation, which will be held on November 19, in Russia and abroad. The dictation is held annually by the Russian Geographical Society on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The key goal of the project is to popularize geographical knowledge and increase interest in the geography of Russia. Test your geographic literacy!
