RUDN University will discuss new political practices and the place of political science in a changing world

On December 1–2, RUDN University will host the annual All-Russian scientific conference “Political science in a changing world: new practices and theoretical search.” Its goal is to find and define popular forms of political science for interpreting ongoing global changes.

The change in traditional theoretical frameworks associated with the departure of previously dominant linear paradigms raises the question of the legitimacy of traditional political practices, the legitimacy of institutions, goals and subjects of the political process. Understanding Russia's new status requires academic understanding and the involvement of the political science community.

In the conference program:

Plenary session.

  • 11 sessions on the main thematic areas of the conference.
  • 24 meetings of research committees of the Russian Association of Political Science.
  • 17 round tables.
  • 10 special sessions.
  • 30 presentations of projects and books.
  • 7 youth events.
  • Main thematic areas of the conference:

Modern world: new formats of change.

New political reality: between dystopia and new opportunities.

Political science today: time for theory.

Alternatives for overcoming the current crisis: possibilities of scientific modeling.

New political goal-setting and diversity of paths of political development: culture, values, religion.

Russia in a deglobalizing world: sovereignty, subjectivity, value system.

Political science for social consolidation.

State and citizen in the context of digitalization: interaction strategies, risks, opportunities.

Political communications in a changing world.

“New” risk society: practices and factors of threat management.

International activities of cities and intrastate regions in times of modern turbulence.

Also at the conference there will be a competition for the best scientific work in the field of political science in the following categories:

  • Scientific works: individual and collective monographs.
  • Educational and methodological works.
  • Political and journalistic works.
  • Integration into world science.
  • Interdisciplinary research.
  • Debut (works of political scientists under the age of 28, including undergraduate and graduate students).

The scientific and practical conference “Expanding Boundaries” was held at RUDN Faculty of Philology. 123 postgraduate students from Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia and Russia spoke at round tables about their dissertations and theoretical and practical problems they face in their research.
