Student research club “Modeling of Wireless IoT Networks”

The club brings together students interested in modeling wireless networks and their performance analysis techniques. We deal with scientific challenges that the team of the Department of Applied Informatics and Probability Theory explores co-partnering with international and Russian researchers. We present reports, discuss results achieved and upcoming publications at our seminars.
Meetings are held once or twice a week.
Active club members are authors of publications in high-level journals indexed in Scopus/WoS databases.

Student professional association ‘Basics of Research”

We will help you with the search for and selection of research topics, and advise you on presenting research findings in a completed scientific report at a conference or a round table discussion. We will help you develop competencies needed for successful research. Our top priority is shaping up the academic culture and academic literacy needed for development as a researcher.
The Student Professional Association (SPC) holds one workshop and one round table every month. Participants have weekly consultations related to SPC projects. Competition winners are awarded diplomas.

Student research club “Nano chemistry and nanotechnology”

Nanotechnology allows working with extremely tiny objects measured in nanometers, and build devices and mechanisms out of them, like from toy blocks. Nanotechnology represents cutting edge developments in physics, chemistry and biology, and provide the basis for the next technological revolution – switch from working with the matter to manipulating individual atoms. The base for this program is the students’ knowledge gained while studying the basics of chemistry, physics and mathematics.
The club’s schedule:.
Monday 3:00 – 7:00 p.m..
Wednesday 3:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Student research club “The World of Contemporary Catalysis”

Both practice and theoretical sessions of the club focus on new ways to obtain heavy-duty (T, P, corrosive atmosphere) catalysts/carriers with large surface area, namely: mixed oxide catalysts for vehicle exhaust gas cleaning, for catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds. The base for this program is the students’ knowledge gained while studying the basics of chemistry, physics and mathematics. The club has both hands-on and theoretical sessions.
Hands-on sessions take place Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students independently decide on their suitable timing according to their needs and preferences.
Theoretical sessions are divisional seminars. Club members are also invited to occasional seminars held at the Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis of the Russian Academy of Science. Participants take part in annual conferences. Students who have been attending the club for at least a year are nominated for annual competitions to present their scientific works. Upon completion of their studies, club members are awarded certificates.

Student research club “Organic synthesis”

At our sessions, you will gain hands-on laboratory experience, synthesize your first never-seen-before molecule. Club sessions take place in state-of-the-art research labs of the Department of Organic Chemistry available for students any time Monday through Saturday. As a rule, starting with year two, students are introduced to high science and join one of the research groups of the Department. Areas of research include advanced sectors of modern organic chemistry and related disciplines: metal complex catalysis, photoredox processes, electrochemistry, development of new materials with given properties, including the development of the synthesis of novel biologically active compounds. All areas of research are supported by Russian (Moscow Government, Russian Science Foundation and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research) and foreign scientific foundations, and enjoy close cooperation with leading foreign teams from over 20 countries. Students have an opportunity to present the results of their work at the International Scientific Conference “Advances in Synthesis and Complexing” (http://conferencerudn.com/ ) organized once every two years at the RUDN University. By the time of the final research paper defense, students engaged in experimental research in the club have become co-authors of one or two publications in top international journals, a fact additionally assessed by the examination committee. At the end of year four, excellent internship opportunities open up for master’s students are at top laboratories of the USA, Germany, Italy and France.
