Scientific seminar «Green and safe strategy in the electrosynthesis of cyano acetate derivatives by acetonitrile reduction»
11, November at 14:30 MSK
The electrosynthesis of cyano acetate derivatives by acetonitrile reduction is a green and safe strategy to replace the traditional cyanation. Herein, we have obtained the cyano acetate derivatives in good yields by a simple electrolysis of aldehyde and acetyl chloride in acetonitrile in an undivided cell with carbon cathode and magnesium anode.
The desired products was obtained when a dry acetonitrile (15 mL) and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBABF4) (0.329 g, 1 mmol) was electrolyzed under constant current conditions (120 mA) in an undivided cell, equipped with a magnetic stirrer, using a carbon rod (Φ 5 mm) as the cathode and a magnesium plate as the anode. The reaction was performed at 0 °C in the presence of argon, and it was stopped after 1 night.
Participants: students, postgraduates and scientific-pedagogical workers of the faculty of Sciences of RUDN and other Universities.
