RUDN University chemist with colleagues from India and Korea created a nanofilter for water purification from synthetic dyes. The graphene-based composite can quickly remove up to 100% of harmful compounds from water, and it can be used up to seven times without losing efficiency. In addition, the synthesis of the nanofilter itself is economical and environmentally friendly.

RUDN University chemists have created a metal-containing compound with an unusual flat architecture. The unexpected structure was formed due to the spontaneous capture of carbon dioxide from the air during the reaction. The crystal has magnetic properties. This can be useful for creating storage devices.

Chemists of RUDN in details investigated the molecular mechanism of interaction of recently created antineoplastic preparation with proteins of blood. Results not only will allow to judge efficiency of means, but also are of interest from the point of view of understanding of mechanisms of action of similar drugs.

The RUDN University chemist together with colleagues from Portugal created catalysts based on vanadium, supported on a carbon framework. They can be used, for example, to produce adipic acid. The use of the framework increased the efficiency of the catalysts, made them reusable and allowed the reaction to be carried out with microwave radiation instead of the more energy-consuming oil heating.

To increase the strength, researchers come up with new methods of reinforcement—usually with metal structures or nanofibers. A RUDN University professor with colleagues from Iran has discovered an easier way. Even from a conventional concrete mix, one can get a more durable material. The main point is to choose the right proportions and hardening conditions. The main point is to choose the right proportions and hardening conditions.
