Neurosurgery is a prestigious constantly evolving specialty with good prospects. During the course of training, residents are taught modern methods of how to diagnose and effectively treat neurosurgery patients, with particular emphasis to emergency neurosurgery. The future neurosurgeons should also have excellent practical skills. This is achieved by personal hands-on operations during the course of training. The department is engaged in preparation of highly qualified specialists who are able to carry out surgical interventions in a quality manner, without errors or harm to the patient, thereby achieving the treatment goal.


Educational Process

The Neurosurgery residency program is designed for candidates who have already acquired undergraduate medical education. The course is aimed at training highly qualified specialists to be able to diagnose and treat diseases of the nervous system, performing surgical interventions on the brain, spinal cord and on other organs in which there are disorders, related to the process of innervation.


Practice

Residents are attached to neurosurgery clinical bases of the department, under the direct guidance and supervision of departmental professors. The resident will have the opportunity not only to expand their knowledge, but also to see its application in practice. Residents also participate in the management of neurosurgery patient clinical cases, which provide the opportunity to obtain rich clinical experience.


Career

Upon successfully completion, the young neurosurgery specialist is attached to a specialized hospital where he works under the guidance of seniors and the department head. He/she will be able to manage patients while continuing to improve theoretical acumen and practical skill. Gradually the specialist is allowed to conduct complex operations. A qualified neurosurgeon can also find a job in private and public institutions, medical schools,higher educational institutions of medical specialization, scientific organizations, consultative and diagnostic centers.
