Luis Correia graduated from the University of Lisboa (https://www.ulisboa.pt/en - 355 QS WUR) in 1991 and received a degree in Ph.D. in the field of electrical and computer equipment.

Currently considered one of the most influential scientific researchers in the world, is a professor in the field of telecommunications. His current research focuses on areas such as wireless / mobile communications, channel characteristics, radio networks, traffic, and applications. Professor Lewish Correia acted as a consultant for Portuguese telecom operators. In addition to participating in research projects conducted at the national level, he participated in 31 projects carried out within the framework of European structures. Under his leadership, more than 200 masters / graduate students were published, 6 books were edited, over 450 articles were published and presented in various international and national journals, as well as at conferences. The professor took part in the defense of 35 PhD theses, 52 research projects. He was a national delegate to the COST ICT domain committee, worked on the European Net platform! Works, as an elected member of its Advisory Expert Group and its Governing Council, as well as Chairman of the Applications Working Group, was also elected to the European 5G PPP Association. 

This year the professor presented a course of open lectures for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Applied Informatics and Probability Theory. Lectures were devoted to modern information technology. The first lecture of the course «How to prepare an excellent presentation», the second - «Approach to Cloud and Virtual Radio Access Networks». Presents the preparation of the presentation structure, an approach to preparing the presentation itself. Abstract of the lecture «Approach to cloud and virtual radio access networks» The lecture discusses the concept of transition to cloud and virtual radio access networks (RAN). It describes the motivation for network virtualization in terms of services and users. The concepts of Cloud- RAN and Virtual-RAN, as well as network architectures that use these concepts. This allows operators to have multiple roles compared to today's reality and serve several virtual network operators, distributing resources with edi them and sharing functionality to infrastructure providers. Presents the division of base stations into remote radio control and bandwidth processing modules. It provides an overview of some models and algorithms for managing virtual radio resources and deploying cloud architectures aimed at optimizing the use of resources, depending on the services offered to users. Considered such resource limitations as physical capacity, maximum latency, multiple access technology. It is also shown that the allocation of resources should be made in accordance with the type of services and their classes, determined by the quality of service. Examples of applications for which results were obtained are proposed.

A new postdoc appeared at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Communications Technology of the RUDN University, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Ekaterina Lisovskaya

Ekaterina graduated from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics of the Tomsk State University. She also defended where her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences with professor Svetlana Moiseeva as her supervisor. During her work on the thesis, Ekaterina repeatedly participated in scientific events held at the RUDN University where she showed herself as a promising young scientist. Soon after she had received the scientific degree, Ekaterina was offered to take part in the competition for the post-doctoral position of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Telecommunications of the RUDN University.
