Al Labban Adham Ahmad
Country: Syria
Year of protection: 2012
Research topic: The Potential of SHW as sources of resistance to brown rust and powdery mildew
The direction of science: Agricultural Sciences
Specialization: Selection and Seed Breeding of Agricultural Plants
Annotation to the dissertation:The dissertation is devoted to the assessment of the primary synthetic wheat for resistance to leaf rust and powdery mildew, and then selection the best genotypes with a set of economic indicators to be used in line breeding process in Non-Chernozem zone and other regions where the wheat is being exposed to these diseases. On the basis of the three-year studies of 400 patterns of SHW the most highly productive ones with resistance to leaf rust, powdery mildew resistant and group were selected. The genes of resistance to leaf rust were identified using phytopatologic tests and molecular markers. Selected 50 patterns of SHW with a complex economically valuable features might be used as sources of disease resistance, productivity and grain quality in wheat breeding in Non-Chernozem zone of Russia.
