School "Is Journalism a Science?"
The main task of the school for prospective master students is to activate scientific research conducted by students, undergraduates and young scientists of Russian and foreign universities, the development of fundamental and applied research contributing to the integration of higher education and science, as well as the presentation of master's programs of the philological faculty, including joint programs in foreign languages.
According to the school program, leading Russian and foreign scientists in the sphere of media will analyze and forecast the development of Russian and foreign journalism in the context of the growing influence of the media and global communication mechanisms on the political, social and economic situation in society.
The main sections of the school for prospective master students “Is journalism a science?” are:
- Civic journalism and journalistic education in Russia. Journalism in Russian regions. The evolution of Russian language in modern media texts.
- Informational policy of Russia and the post-Soviet countries. Informational confrontation between Russia and Western countries.
- Features of the media market mechanisms in Russia and foreign countries. Advertising industry.
- From web 2.0 to web 3.0, or a new concept of presenting and receiving information. Ethical problems of modern media.
Classes for future masters will be held under the guidance of leading teachers of the Philological Faculty of RUDN University, other Russian and foreign universities –professors and associate professors in the field of theoretical and empirical aspects of studying the mass media processes, as well as training highly qualified specialists for Russian and foreign media industries.
Each of the participants will be able to take part in professional discussions and express his position, exchange views on topical issues in the framework of the school.
The program of the educational event includes lectures and master classes, trainings and creative meetings.
Scientists, teachers and senior students from RUDN University, Astrakhan State University, Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO University), Murmansk Arctic State University, Nizhnevartovsk State University, Novosibirsk State Technical University Perm State University and Surgut State Pedagogical University will participate in the school.
Special guest of the meeting will be a professor of the Center of Information and Communication at the University of Sorbonne (France).
The school will start on April 17th, 2019 at 11.00 AM in hall 1 of the Main building of RUDN University at the address: Moscow, Miklukho-Maklaya str., 6.
