About the event

On 22 December at 17:00 p.m. (Moscow time)

An international scientific seminar “German and Russian Neo-Kantianism” will be held at RUDN University.

Speaker: Nina Dmitrieva, Doctor of Philology, Professor, visiting researcher at Princeton University (USA), foreign corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, associate professor, professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Moscow Pedagogical State University; scientific director of the Kantiana Academy of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Kaliningrad).

In the modern rethinking of neo-Kantian history and ideas, the Russian version of neo-Kantianism has a special, but still unclearly defined place and not realized in all its significance. Previous, traditional techniques and classifications of Russian neo-Kantianism can no longer be adequately used when analyzing this phenomenon on Russian soil: the data accumulated in the course of historical and philosophical research require special study and the creation of new explanatory models. This unique phenomenon — Russian neo-Kantianism, once nurtured and cherished by neo-Kantian scholars — will, over time, make it possible to rethink the ideological role in the modern world of both neo-Kantianism in general and, first of all, its Marburg school as an institutionally and theoretically more “strict” branch neo-Kantian movement. Even a superficial acquaintance with the phenomena of the real existence of neo-Kantian thought in the history of Russian society not only leaves the impression of untapped wealth, but also gives rise to many pressing research problems: from the problem of defining the phenomenon “Russian neo-Kantianism” to the question of the neo-Kantian context of Soviet philosophy.

Working language: German.

Participants: professors, graduate students, masters and students of RUDN University, Higher School of Economics, Russian State University for the Humanities, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Saratov State University. N.G. Chernyshevsky, University of Klagenfurt (Austria).
