Profession

The profession of a manager is the most universal profession in the world. Within the framework of the master’s programme “International Business Management”, managers are trained to work in international companies and in international markets. Special requirements are imposed on the knowledge and skills of such managers — they must understand the conditions for the company's business development, the sources of its global competitive advantages, understand the related international commercial operations and the peculiarities of international companies organization. In addition, they need to know the advantages and disadvantages of modern types of enterprises and firms, understand the specifics of personnel management in a multinational environment, understand the principles of work in international markets for goods, services and capital, be fluent in at least two foreign languages, and professionally understand the issues of information technology management support. Such specialists, along with serious training in the field of management, must have knowledge and skills both in the field of international business and in world economy.

Practice

A practice-oriented approach to studying is one of the most important values of the International Business Management program. Managerial competencies cannot be formed by studying only theory, so internship in commercial organizations is an integral part of the educational process. The main bases for undergoing internship are large international and national companies of various spheres and sectors of the economy that are interested in attracting graduates to work. In accordance with the curriculum, in the 2nd semester students undergo a two-week foreign internship “Economics and International Business in APEC Countries”. The organizer of the internship and the host party is Sookmyung Woman's University, South Korea, Seoul. For pre-graduation internships, students are sent to leading international corporations and companies in Russia.


Career

Graduates of the master’s programme “International Business Management” are highly demanded today in companies with a good international reputation both in the Russian Federation and abroad. Their industry affiliation is extensive. Among them there are energy, production, mining, consulting, high-tech, financial, transport and logistics companies, banks, hotel and tourism companies.
Graduates of the programme can work in
— companies operating in international markets, carrying out foreign direct investments, having representative offices, branches, subsidiaries and joint ventures abroad;
— enterprises of any organizational and legal form (commercial, non-commercial, state), carrying out international commercial operations, in which graduates work as employees or administrative staff, or they can become entrepreneurs who create and develop their own business;
— research organizations related to the solution of management problems;
