Educational Process

The educational residency program “Ophthalmology” is developed for people with higher medical education, aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the field of treatment and prevention of eye diseases. The resident receives knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the eye, learns to understand and apply diagnostic and treatment methods, to understand the symptoms of diseases, including those not directly related to visual organs’ diseases, but giving complications to the eyes. Training is practically oriented and aimed at the formation of system knowledge and professional competences that allow conducting medical activities.


Practice

Medical residents are distributed to the units of the clinical sites of the department, where, under the guidance of professors of the department, they have the opportunity both to expand their knowledge and see its application in practice. Students analyze clinical events and this provides the opportunity to obtain a wealth of clinical experience during residency training.

Nowadays ophthalmology is one of the most sought-after professions of the medical industry. Unfortunately, people’s problems with eyesight increase every year and this means that the demand for the ophthalmologist’s services is unlikely to decline. They can work in state and commercial structures, polyclinics and hospitals, research and practical centers. Upon completion of the residency program, the students have the opportunity to enroll in the postgraduate program on the specialization “Eye diseases”.
