Profession

The Creative Industries and Cultural Management programme in Arts and Humanities is one of the first practice-oriented master’s programmes in Russia aimed at training specialists in creative management and industries. The programme represents a new learning format focused on the development of creative competencies in cultural management (socio-cultural design, creative urban development, museum design laboratories) and creative industries (design, film production, computer games, television, art, media production, music business, etc.) The master’s programme focuses on representing the author's programmes of the department's staff, who have extensive experience in theoretical and practical work in cultural management and creative industries.


Educational Process

When mastering the programme, master’s students study the current state of creativity industry, get acquainted with the topical problems of modern management and new knowledge economy. Students broaden their horizons, master the basics of creative management, learn to think creatively and be ready to make and present new creative projects. Special emphasis is placed on studying the main areas of creative industries: advertising, design and architecture, decorative arts and crafts, fashion, film industry in terms of video, DVD and television films, music industry, museums and cultural organizations, fine arts, literature and publishing, cultural tourism.


Practice

The uniqueness of the Master’s program lies in its innovative nature. An important component of the program is a professional practice in the area of "Creative industries and new creative platforms," with an emphasis on practical activities. During professional practice, students become part of teams of real creative projects (including international ones) in leading cultural institutions and creative clusters in Russia: in museums (in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, in the State Tretyakov Gallery, etc.), in leading media and publishing houses, theaters, advertising agencies, production centers, concert agencies, on TV and radio, in modern creative clusters of Moscow (Center for Art and Design Art-play, Central Exhibition Hall "Manege"; Cultural Center "ZIL", "Meridian", etc.), in state cultural organizations, in commercial structures, etc.


Career

After mastering the master’s programme, graduates can be employed in the practical field of culture and art and fill a vacancy of an art manager, head of socio-cultural projects, head of regional urban development projects, curator of contemporary art, specialist in creative entrepreneurship, manager in culture and art.
