Contemporary psychotherapy is a system of therapeutic intervention on psyche and through the psyche to the patient’s organism. In spite of its interdisciplinary nature (affinity to psychology, sociology, pedagogics, philosophy) psychotherapy first of all is a medical profession and psychotherapist as any other doctors takes great social responsibility. Nowadays there are very many different methods of psychotherapy. The training program includes theoretical, methodological, clinical, neurophysiological and psychological basis of psychotherapy, the study of psychotherapeutic methods and possibilities of their use in treatment process. Of fundamental importance is the basis of psychopathology which is the basis for training of future experienced psychotherapist.
Educational Process
Residents study all main psychotherapeutic methods, technics of patient examination, pathopsychological and neuropsychological examinations, different methodic of interviewing. Main topics: “general psychopathology”, “mental disorders”, “cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy”, “transactional analysis”, “motivational psychotherapy”, “child and adolescent psychotherapy”, “family psychotherapy”, “hypnotherapy” “suicidology”, “public health and healthcare”, “medicine of emergency situations”, “pathology”, “pedagogics”, “clinical pharmacology”, “foundation of narcology”.
Practice
Practical activity takes place in clinical psychiatric hospital, public dispensary, departments of general hospital. Residents take part in examination and treatment of patients with endogenous psychoses, affective disorders, anxiety disorders and psychosomatic pathology, chemical and non-chemical addiction. An educational simulation course is used as well.

Psychotherapist is one of the most highly-paid professions in medicine. Psychotherapist helps to take up parenting mistakes, to improve life, to make a career, to improve character, to solve complicated situation, to manage stress. Psychotherapists work in medical institutions and couching agencies, take part in development of business trainings.
