About the event

Professor of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, Yaroslav Filinchuk will give a lecture at RUDN. The subject of this lecture  – " Solid state hydrogen storage ".

The strategy of economy of hydrogen is a combination of production, storage, delivery and use of hydrogen as the energy carrier.

Hydrogen can be used to store excess energy and transport it from the point of excess, that serves as an energy storage in the grid.

Current status and prospect of this strategy will be presented. Convenient storage of hydrogen is a major problem, which, together with the lack of means of its low-cost production, prevents large-scale implementation of hydrogen economy.

The focus of the lecture will be devoted to chemical storages of hydrogen. They can be grouped into three major classes: relatively heavy metal-based alloys, light chemicals which store hydrogen in the form of molecules or ions, and porous scaffolds capable of capturing molecular hydrogen.

When:1.30 pm

Where: Room 102, 3, Ordzhonikidze St., Building of the Faculty of Science
