November 10th, RUDN opened a Presidential Library electronic reading hall named after B.N. Yeltsin - students, teachers and guests of the University gained access to more than 500,000 texts and multimedia materials  on history, theory and practice of the Russian state, and the achievements of science and art.

Altogether 30 working places were made at the main building, in the books withdrawal hall and in the reading room № 4 (6, Miklukho-Maklaya st.), and in the reading room at the building of natural and humanitarian faculties (10/2, Miklukho-Maklaya st.). RUDN was the first university which gave such access to library resources.

Presidential Library is one of the 3 national libraries in Russia, the hallmark of which is the availability of all digital publications, which gives it the right to be called a national electronic archive. "We believe in complex nature of knowledge. The digital form of Presidential Library helps to combine text electronic copies, video and audio from archives, museums, media, and universities collections ", - emphasized Alexander Vershinin, director general of the Presidential Library. The collection contains books, historical materials and scientific texts (including abstracts and monographs), periodicals, multimedia and much more. These resources will be interesting not only to "humanists", but also to medical doctors, engineers, and experts in the field of exact sciences – there are vast archives of historical and modern materials from various fields of scientific knowledge in the library.

Gaining access to Presidential Library knowledge fund named after B.N. Yeltsin – is an undeniable achievement in information technologies integration in educational process: "RUDN as a modern world-class university is out of "talking head " lectures format - time communicating with professor should be used as efficiently as possible. We are moving toward a pedagogical paradigm "university where people are learning", and the resources of Presidential Library will help students in self-study, and professors and graduate students - in scientific research, "- addressed the guests RUDN Rector Vladimir Filippov.

Plans are to expand the "geography" access and make additional jobs at the Faculty of Ecology, Faculty of Science and Engineering Academy. 20 countries are connected to the Library funds for now, and opening an electronic reading room for RUDN students from 152 countries is a window to the whole world.
