The Times Higher Education World University Rankings provide the definitive list of the world's best universities, evaluated across teaching, research, international outlook, reputation and more – all in all 13 indicators. RUDN has made a breakthrough due to improvement in 8 out of 13 indicators, which in general significantly improved the "Teaching" indicator (from 740th place in 2017 to 239th in 2018), "International outlook" (from 531st to 244th place) and "Citation" (from 1,072nd to 995th).

2 March, RUDN chose the King of Africa or Mister RUDN Association of African students – Zim Sankvella (SAR), first-year student of the Agrarian and Technological Institute who won over students from Cameroon, Chad, Namibia, Angola, Ethiopia and SAR. Vice-Mister was Binga Medesh (Angola), third place was taken by Naftalu Kuume (Namibia).
