July 2, 2013, state officials, public figures, diplomats, students and citizens of Latin American countries living in Moscow took part in a function “Russia is paying tribute to Comandante Hugo Chavez” in Moscow theatre “New Opera n.a. E.Kolobov” in Hermitage park. The event was timed to the visit of President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro to Russia. Representatives of RUDN University participated in the event at the invitation of the Embassy of Venezuela. The guests warmly greeted Director of the RAS Institute of Latin America V.Davydov and the President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro. In the frame of the culture program the guests enjoyed the performances of I.Moisseev Folk Dance Ensemble and Dance studio of S.Bolivar culture center of the Venezuelan Embassy in the RF.

Student from SAR becomes Mister RUDN Association of African students - 2018
2 March, RUDN chose the King of Africa or Mister RUDN Association of African students – Zim Sankvella (SAR), first-year student of the Agrarian and Technological Institute who won over students from Cameroon, Chad, Namibia, Angola, Ethiopia and SAR. Vice-Mister was Binga Medesh (Angola), third place was taken by Naftalu Kuume (Namibia).
