Student Games of the Union State

Four national teams of RUDN University returned from Smolensk on October 11. They participated from October 05 to October 10 in the Students Games of the Union State of Russia –Belarus ” Sports. Recognition. Success". Nine HEIs from the Republic of Belarus were in competition with four HEIs of Russia. Our students did well. Nika Goldun, the student of the first-year of the faculty of Economics won four gold medals in swimming at all individual distances, silver medal in 4x50 medley mixed, bronze medal in 4x100 freestyle mixed. Maria Zemtzova (faculty of Humanitarian and Social sciences, second year) Andrey Savastenko (Engineering faculty, third year) Petr Alexandrov (Medical faculty, third year) Alexey Glasov (faculty of Humanitarian and Social sciences, second year) also participated in the mixed. Besides, Maria Zemtsova won the bronze medal in the 200 m freestyle. The couch of RUDN University Elena Kunitsyna, professor of the Chair of Physical Education was the head of the team. The RUDN University women’s basketball team under the leadership of coach Alexander Nevzgoda took the second place in the street basketball competition. Honor of RUDN University was protected by Tatyana Polikushina, Anastasiya Ivanova (both 3rd year of the Agrarian faculty), Darya Kuropyatnik (1 year of the Agrarian faculty) and Alyona Bikzenteeva (2nd year of the Philological faculty). Men’s team in this kind of basketball became the fourth. The RUDN University table tennis team (coach - the senior teacher of the RUDN University department of physical education Alexander Chumakov) took the third place, and the student of the 2nd year of the Faculty of Humanitarian and Social science Maria Sintsova took the second place in a personal offset. The RUDN University athletics team coached by senior teacher of the physical education department Alla Dmitrievna Malchenko performed very well in all events of the track and field programme, struggled on a par with the students of sporting institutes of higher education in many athletic sports and succeeded in getting a win-prizing place: master of the first year at the Faculty of Humanitarian and Social sciences Anna Mironenko took the third place in the long running jump. In the mixed relay race 4х200 metres our team won fourth place. The trip was challenging both sport and culture-wise. Coaches and athletes are grateful to the administration of the University and Rector V.Filippov personally for the opportunity.
