7 countries, 7 languages, 17 universities. RUDN University hosts the conference "Languages for Peace and Partnership"

April 20, RUDN Law Institute welcomed the participants of the conference "Languages for Peace and Partnership". This year the conference has acquired the status of international: 150 speakers from the universities of the Republic of Belarus, India, Spain, China, Turkey, France and Russia took part in it.

Speakers spoke in 7 languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, German, French, and Japanese.

Students from the universities of Turkey, Spain and France spoke online. The poster session helped students from universities in India and China overcome the time difference.

The program included plenary and breakout sessions, which were moderated by students of the Law Institute (linguistic and translation programs).

Aysenur Ogrash, (Karadeniz Technical University, Turkey):

“I am grateful to the organizers for the opportunity to speak at the conference and present my project on academic writing. I listened with great interest to the reports of my colleagues from Russia, Spain and France. I will be glad to participate in the next RUDN University conferences — this is a great opportunity to meet new friends from different universities and countries”.

Renata Migunova, (MGIMO, Russia):

“It was my first experience of participating in such a large-scale event. Despite the fact that I was quite nervous, I was always supported by my supervisor, Associate Professor Galina Thomson. The atmosphere of the conference at RUDN University was exceptionally friendly, I would even say homely. The teachers and students of RUDN University that I met turned out to be high-level professionals in their fields”.

Gohar Avagyan, (Moscow State University, Russia):

“I am participating in the student conference ‘Language for Peace and Cooperation’ for the second year. It allows students to exchange experience, hear the opinions of experts, and get motivation for further work. I would like to pay special attention to sections in a foreign language (Spanish). This is a great opportunity for students not only to present their research, but also to speak publicly in a foreign language”.

Elizaveta Elistratova, (RUDN, Jurisprudence and the program “Translator”, Russia) — moderator in English of the plenary section:

“This is not the first time I have been a moderator at a conference and every time I learn something new. Experience is gained only through experience. This is communication with people, assistance in organization, adaptation to performances in front of a large audience. I would like to say special thanks to the teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages. They are the real support in many areas. I really enjoyed being a moderator and I hope to be able to help next year too”.

Anastasia Savchenko, (RUDN, Jurisprudence and the program “Translator”, Russia) — moderator in Spanish of the plenary and thematic sections:

“The conference was lively and informative. The participants, who presented their papers in Spanish at the plenary session, aroused the interest of the audience with their topics. The audience was very involved, asking questions. At the section meeting, almost every speech had 2 or even more comments or clarifications. It is a great joy that the conference gives everyone the opportunity to develop their research abilities and communication skills in a foreign language, to gain experience in presenting their scientific material”.

Gabriel Dourado Rocha, (RUDN, Jurisprudence, Brazil):

“It is such a joy to study at RUDN University. Sometimes I myself do not believe that I am here and can defend a dissertation on a topic that I adore. International law is challenging. I enjoyed participating in this conference. Discussions about the organization of learning in the framework of digital transformation were useful”.

By the beginning of the conference a collection of abstracts and speeches of the participants was published.

The conference was attended by representatives of 17 universities from 7 countries.

Russian universities: RUDN, Saratov State Law Academy, The All-Russian State University of Justice, Russian State university of Justice, MGIMO, Buryat State University n.a. Dorzhi Banzarov, Moscow State University, Vladimir State University, State Social and Humanitarian University (Kolomna), Moscow State Pedagogical University, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
