A conference of staff and faculty dedicated to the development of international cooperation between RUDN University and Aristotle University in Thessaloniki

October 4, the Conference of staff and faculty, dedicated to the development of international educational and scientific cooperation between RUDN University and the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki, began its work in Thessaloniki (Greece). Within the framework of the Conference, the parties will discuss the possibilities of expanding existing cooperation in the agricultural, medical, engineering, mathematical and humanitarian fields.

Vice-Rector for International Affairs Larisa Efremova addressed the Conference participants with a welcoming speech, noting the history of fruitful cooperation between RUDN and the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki. During the presentation of Alexey Poyda, Director of the Department of International Scientific and Educational Cooperation, the Greek side learnt about the organizational structure of RUDN University, quantitative indicators of activity, and the dynamics of university promotion in the world rankings. Particular interest of the representatives of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki was roused by the cluster approach in the implementation of international activities, centers of the Russian language and pre-university training, specialized classes and RUDN Olympiad.

Presentations on current activities and interaction opportunities were made by Director of the Medical Institute Alexei Abramov, Director of Nikolsky Mathematical Institute Alexander Skubachevsky, Deputy Director of the Academy of Engineering Irina Tkachenko, Head of the Department of General History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Sergey Voronin. Associate Professor of the Agrarian-Technological Institute Elena Pakina told about the successful experience in the implementation of the dual-degree Master's program "Organic Agriculture".

Within the framework of the current Cooperation Agreement, 6 joint conferences were also held with the participation of students and university professors. The participants of the Conference learnt about the possibilities of joint participation in research grants in the framework of the programs Horizont 2020, Erasmus +, COST Actions, etc.

The work of the Conference will continue in the form of working groups on core areas of cooperation giving an opportunity to expand cooperation between RUDN University and the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki.

RUDN University and Ghana: Common Strategy for Education-Business-Science

RUDN University is to train 100 specialists in Agronomy and Ecology for Ghana at the request of its industrial partner, the Jospong Group, which unites 60 companies. The number of trained personnel will amount to over 600 within 5 years. The fields of study which are of interest to the partner include Agronomy, Information Technology, Applied Nature Management, Ecology. The company is ready to pay for travel, accommodation and scholarships for these students. RUDN University will accept students within preferential rights.

“This trip would be incomplete without visiting the university”: on the visit of the delegation of the Republic of The Gambia to RUDN University

The delegation of the Republic of The Gambia led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mamadou Tangara visited the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Members of the delegation met with Rector Oleg Yastrebov and the staff of the Agricultural and Technological Institute of RUDN University, went on a tour of biotechnological laboratories and a laboratory for studying soils chemical composition and properties.
