About the event

On 21 October at 17:00 p.m. (Moscow time)

In recent years, world has undergone profound changes, especially in the field of education. As we know, universities play a pivotal role in shaping the linguistic competence of its students, and L2 motivation is a crucial aspect of this journey, my research has ventured into understanding how this motivation is being reshaped by disruptive influences and technological advancements and what are teachers coping strategies.

Speaker: Habibullah Pathan, Professor of Centre of English Language and Linguistics, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan.

In my talk I will share with you the insights from my ongoing research project, which focuses on the reimagining of the role of L2 (second language) motivation in the 21st century, with a specific emphasis on its implications for English Language Teaching (ELT) in universities.

By conducting extensive research within the context of Pakistani and Russian universities, I am in process of analyzing some fascinating dynamics. I have examined factors impacting students’ motivation, as well as the roles of teachers, the pedagogy employed, and the materials utilized. My research underscores the need for educators in universities to adapt to these changes by leveraging technology, designing innovative materials, and fostering motivational learning environments.
