RUDN University chemists obtained a metal-containing complex with an unusual planar architecture. The unexpected structure was formed due to the spontaneous fixation of carbon dioxide from the air during the reaction. This compound exhibits unusual magnetic properties (spin glass behaviour). This can be useful for creating memory storage devices.
RUDN chemists investigated in detail the molecular mechanism of interaction of the newly created antitumor drug with blood proteins. The results will not only allow us to judge the effectiveness of the drug, but also are of interest from the point of view of understanding the mechanisms of action of such drugs.
RUDN University chemist together with colleagues from Belgium and China proposed a new method for the synthesis of biologically active phenanthridinones. This protocol allows creating a wider range of products and does not require a long time or harsh conditions.
RUDN University soil scientist for the first time investigated how soil microorganisms resist changes due to human agricultural activities in karst regions.
Nanoparticles are used for targeted delivery of drugs, toxic agents for the destruction of cancer cells, as well as for diagnosticsand. In the treatment of cancer, drugs are increasingly combined with nanomaterials, since in combination they affectthe causes and manifestations ofthedisease from different sides. Gold nanoparticles are well suited for therapy and diagnosis, since they are inert, easily penetrate into tumor cells and linger in them. Researchers at IBHTN and RUDN University studied which parameters of gold nanoparticles determine their success in cancer therapy.
The RUDN University chemist together with colleagues from Portugal created catalysts based on vanadium, supported on a carbon framework. They can be used, for example, to produce adipic acid. The use of the framework increased the efficiency of the catalysts, made them reusable and allowed the reaction to be carried out with microwave radiation instead of the more energy-consuming oil heating.
October 20, the “Surgery of the Skull Base” conference gathered together 30 leading neurosurgeons from 8 countries. The conference was organized by Albert Sufianov, Director of the Research Institute of Neurosurgery of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Chief Physician of the Federal Center for Neurosurgery in Tyumen, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation.
October 5-8, 2022, RUDN University delegation paid a working visit to Mongolia. During this period, representatives of the university held RUDN University Open Olympiad, met with applicants at the education exhibition and took part in the forum of Mongolian alumni.
October 8, RUDN University students and 800 schoolchildren set off on a journey through the diverse world of university science. 2 halls, 11 classrooms and a co-working zone - the Science Festival was all over the main building. In addition to the traditional interactive exhibition, RUDN researchers held 26 new format events: short half-hour non-stop master classes.
Anna Vasilievna Lyalina was born on October 17, 1922. She worked at the Peoples’ Friendship University from the year of its foundation. Today Anna Vasilievna turns 100 years old, 25 of which were devoted to the service to the University and 4 years to the Great Victory.
October 4-7, 2022 RUDN University held The Second RUDN University Space Week, dedicated to the World Space Week. The theme of this year’s World Space Week is “Space and sustainability”. More than 330 people from 48 countries from Australia to Canada, and from Ecuador to Japan, took part in the event.
October 4, the Research and Educational Resource Center (NRRC) of innovative technologies for immunophenotyping, digital spatial profiling and ultrastructural analysis (molecular morphology) was opened at RUDN.
