350 Russian students will get an opportunity to study at SCO Universities. SCO University Rectorate meeting to be held at RUDN
3 August, RUDN hosts a meeting of the National Rectorate of SCO University where top officials will define plans for the academic year and distribute quotas for Russian students.
In 2017-2018, the RF Government has allocated 350 places for Master’s and postdoc students. The number of places for Bachelor studies will be defined later.
SCO University comprises 78 leading universities from 6 countries including 20 Russian universities in Astrakhan, Barnaul, Belgorod, Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa and Chelyabinsk.
In 2010 – 2016, 1,066 Master’s and postdoc students studied in Russian universities in the frame of SCO University.

In the near future it is planned to prepare specialists in the sphere of technosphere security, electric and thermal engineering and biotechnology.

16 August, 2007 – RF President Vladimir Putin came forward with an initiative to set up SCO University, the idea was supported by SCO members states: Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
28 October, 2008 – Ministers of education of SCO countries signed a Concept of SCO University creation and functioning (Astana).
31 October, 2016 - Dmitry Medvedev signed an order “On signing an Agreement on setting up and functioning of Shanghai Cooperation Organization University”.

More than 70 representatives of the embassies of foreign countries in Russia, representatives of the Federation Council, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation took part in the round table "The contribution of RUDN University to training national personnel for foreign countries." The event was held on February 5, in an online format and was timed to celebrate the 61st anniversary of RUDN University.
December 15, on the basis of RUDN University, the first QS subject summit in the areas of “Modern Languages” and “Linguistics” started. The topic of the QS Subject Focus Summit is “Languages and Migration in the Context of Globalization”.
During the first hour of work, 1,000 schoolchildren from resource centers in Mongolia, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Tajikistan, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan visited the online exhibition “Time to Study in Russia”. On December 17, the online opening of the exhibition took place at RUDN University site.
