Open lecture “Commemoration of Italian Resistance Soldiers Meeting”
On 31st March, the Institute of Foreign Languages of RUDN will host an English-language lecture “Soviet partisans in Italy: 1942-1945” . The lecturer is Massimo Eccli, an Italian researcher, philologist, the author of the book “Soviet Partisans in Italy”. The main topic of the meeting is the joint fight of Soviet people and Italian Resistance fighters against the Nazis on the territory of Italy during the Second World War. The appeal to the topic of the struggle against Nazism is not accidental. The topic has become not only the subject of scientific research by Massimo Eccli, but also his lifelong work. His scrupulous comparative analysis of Russian, Italian and German archives in order to restore the names of Soviet people who were killed on the Italian earth is unique.
In 2020, for his great personal contribution, Massimo Eccli was awarded the Medal of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation “For Perpetuating the Memory of the Fallen Defenders of the Fatherland”. Today, he is a member of the creative team of the documentary project “Sovietichi”, which is being prepared by the film company “FilmOkey”.
- The meeting will be attended by Oleg Nikitich Storm, the producer, general director of the film company “FilmOkey”, film director, author of many documentaries, winner of the national award “Country”, and Massimo Eccli himself.
- The director of the Sovietichi project Oleg Nikitich Strom will open the meeting with a greeting speech, and then Massimo Eccli will give a lecture on the participation of Soviet people from among war prisoners and Ostarbeiters, as well as White Russian emigrants, in the Italian anti-fascist resistance. After the lecture, participants are welcome to ask questions to the lecturer and the creative team of the film project.
